A group of French students visiting the ruins of Pompeii experience a strange and overwhelming force within the ancient city. As they explore the remains of those destroyed by Vesuvius, James, Toni, Suzanne and their Latin teacher are consumed by desire, rage and despair, losing themselves to emotions they cannot control.
