Eligibility
We accept high quality short films (under 40 minutes) focused on gay male stories, including bisexual and male-to-female trans. Documentaries are welcome.
Adhere to YouTube Guidelines
All films must follow YouTube’s rules to be monetized. Any content that could be restricted – such as sexual material or sensitive themes – must be edited so it can run without restrictions.
Language & Subtitles
If your film is not in the English language, it must include English subtitles within the video.
Rights & Ownership
You must own all rights to your short film. By submitting, you give Gay Films Matter a non-exclusive license to distribute and monetize it on YouTube, while keeping full control to use your film elsewhere.
Music & Licensing
All music in your film must be properly licensed for worldwide digital use and monetization, including background tracks, songs, and any third-party audio.
Account Dashbaord
After approval/publication, you can access your account to track views, earnings, and performance reports.
Quarterly Payment
Filmmakers receive payouts every 3 months via PayPal. Your dashboard will show the total earnings during the period, and the funds will be transferred directly to your account.
Removal
You may request your film to be removed from the channel at any time. A 30-day notice is required to process removal requests.
Instagram Promotion
GFM will create a short promotional clip from your film and share it on our Instagram account, reaching thousands of engaged gay male followers.
No Submission Fee
Submitting your gay short film to is completely free. Unlike other platforms that charge filmmakers to be considered, we do not require any fees.
Approval
All submissions are reviewed before release. We approve films that meet our quality standards, including video and audio clarity, storytelling, and YouTube’s content guidelines.
