For the first few minutes, Troy is basically an apartment comedy built around hearing your neighbour have spectacularly loud sex through the wall. Then something stranger happens: irritation becomes fascination, fascination becomes attachment, and a man the central couple barely knows starts affecting their relationship. Mike Donahue’s gay short film is very funny, but the real achievement is making unasked-for intimacy feel oddly communal rather than merely invasive.
