First Love is a tender French gay short film about the intensity, jealousy and uncertainty that accompany a young man’s first serious romantic attachment. Florent Gouëlou gives the relationship warmth without idealising it, allowing insecurity to sit naturally beside desire. The performances keep the drama intimate and recognisable rather than overstated.
