Amen

Directed by Judhajit Bagchi & Ranadeep Bhattacharyya

Follows an engaged gay man as he struggles with the conflict between his sexuality and the condemnation he faces from his religious community, forcing him to confront faith, and identity.
Amen is at its best when it stops trying to make an argument and simply lets two men test whether honesty is possible between them. The Indian gay short film is undeniably issue-driven, but Karan Mehra and Jitin Gulati give the conversation enough emotional texture to keep it from becoming a pamphlet. A mirror scene and the refusal of an easy romantic ending are especially effective choices.
