The Inmate
Alternative title: Selda

Directed by Ellen Ramos & Paolo Villaluna

Tells the story of Rommel, who accidentally kills a boy and finds friendship with Esteban in jail. After release, Rommel and his wife Sita's lives are disrupted by Esteban's return, leading to profound self-discovery.

This film is not currently available to watch online. It may be awaiting release or may no longer be available on any known streaming service.

The Inmate is a tough Filipino drama that explores confinement, masculinity and desire within an institutional setting. Its low-budget roughness is evident, but Ellen Ramos and Paolo Villaluna approach the material with enough seriousness to give the relationships emotional weight beyond the setting’s obvious provocations.
