Joseph Harris, a legendary but troubled playwright, arrives in a small Michigan town at Christmastime to stage his latest play. He is met by a young aspiring writer who challenges him to live up to the hero he imagined. As Harris rejects the town and the role of mentor, the young man must confront the reality of heroes, dreams and hope.
