The Closet
Alternative title: Le placard

Directed by Francis Veber

To avoid losing his job, a man and his neighbor concoct a rumor about his fake homosexuality, sparking unexpected consequences and challenging perceptions in their community.

This film is not currently available to watch online. It may be awaiting release or may no longer be available on any known streaming service.

The Closet is a polished French farce with a clever premise and an excellent cast led by Daniel Auteuil and Gérard Depardieu. Francis Veber keeps the pace brisk, and while some jokes play broadly with gay stereotypes, the film’s warmth and comic timing helped make it a well-received mainstream hit.
